These terms explain the rules for using bucoo — what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you. They're written plainly, but they're a real agreement, so please read them. Last updated 28 June 2026.
You must be at least 18 to create a bucoo account. Accounts are held by a parent, guardian, teacher, or other responsible adult, who sets up each child's profile and supervises their use. By creating an account you confirm you can agree to these terms — and, where you set up a profile for a child, that you have the authority to do so on their behalf.
Please give accurate details and keep your login secure — you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@bucoo.ai if you think someone else has gained access. A single account shouldn't be shared in a way that exceeds the number of children included in your plan.
Please use bucoo only for its purpose — helping children learn to read. Don't misuse it: no attempting to break, copy, reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the service; no uploading unlawful or harmful content; no using it to infringe anyone's rights; and no interfering with other families' use. We may set reasonable limits to keep the service running well for everyone.
bucoo works with the physical books you already own — you keep all rights to your own materials. To coach a reading session, you give bucoo permission to process the page and your child's voice as described in our Privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
bucoo offers a free Sprout plan and paid Reader (A$99/year or A$12.99/month) and Family+ (A$149/year or A$19.99/month) plans. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where it applies. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your chosen payment method, at the price for that period, until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account; your plan then stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and won't renew. We may change plans or prices, but we'll give you notice before a change affects you, and changes won't apply to a period you've already paid for. If we ever offer a free trial, we'll tell you its length and what happens when it ends.
What each plan includes. Sprout is free and includes one child profile and 20 minutes of reading a day, shared across your family and resetting each morning; a reading session already under way is never cut short by that limit. Reader includes unlimited reading for up to 2 children. Family+ includes unlimited reading for up to 5 children. There is no free trial — Sprout is free for as long as you want it, with no card required.
If a payment fails, we'll keep your paid features for 7 days while we let you know, and then move your account to the free Sprout plan. If you cancel, the same thing happens at the end of the period you've paid for. Either way we never delete your children's profiles, reading history or progress — you keep your data, and your reader can keep reading on the free plan.
30-day money-back guarantee on yearly plans. If you buy a yearly plan and bucoo isn't right for your reader, email us within 30 days of that first purchase and we'll refund it in full — no reason needed. This is our own promise, offered on top of the law, and it applies to your first yearly purchase.
Our products come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing in these terms limits those rights. Beyond the guarantee above and what the law requires, subscription fees are generally non-refundable for time that has already elapsed — but if something has gone wrong, contact us and we'll make it right.
bucoo's shop, hardware (such as the Reading Cam) and book packs are coming soon and may carry their own additional terms at purchase. Points and rewards your child earns have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and may expire or change. Any reward purchases are parent-approved and parent-paid — there is no child-facing payment.
bucoo — including the app, Bolt and our other characters, designs, voices, and the bucoo name and logo — belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable licence to use bucoo for your family while these terms apply. Please don't copy or reuse our content outside the app. If you send us feedback or ideas, thank you — you allow us to use them to improve bucoo without obligation.
bucoo is new and improving quickly, so features may change, launch, or be retired over time, and there may be occasional interruptions while we build. We aim for a reliable, safe experience, but the service is provided "as is" and we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
bucoo is built on the science of reading and designed to help, but every child learns differently and we don't promise particular results. bucoo is a learning aid — not a clinical, diagnostic, or medical service — and it isn't a substitute for a teacher's or specialist's assessment. If you have concerns about your child's reading or development, please speak with a qualified professional.
To the extent the law allows — and without limiting the consumer guarantees above — bucoo isn't liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, and where we are liable, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or refunding the fees you paid for it. Some liability can't be excluded by law, and we don't try to.
You can stop using bucoo and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, or where we must for legal or safety reasons — we'll act proportionately and, where we can, give you notice. What happens to your data on closure is described in our Privacy policy.
bucoo is Australian-made, and these terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and bucoo submit to the courts of Australia, and nothing here affects the consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let account holders know. Continuing to use bucoo after a change means you accept the updated terms.
